Making Sourdough Bread with Jennifer
February 12, 2019 • Cooking, Foodie Friday
Let me say there is nothing better than hot bread hitting the table, am I right. like to eat my bread with to much butter and honey drizzle. I have a friend who recently hosted a class on bread making and I knew I had to attend. It was a few hours of laughter, learning and girl time that I so badly need in my life.
It is best that your starter is kept in a glass jar with a lid with holes.
Remember years ago, when your Mom or Grandma had the starter for bread and they had it passed down to from an aunt or maybe their mother, it was treated as an heirloom? This is right where my mind went when I heard about the class.
You know the friendship bread trend was pretty heavy for many years, let's bring it back! The recipe I am going to share with you makes two loaves, keep one, give one.
Dough all mixed up
Shape the dough gently(no kneading) so it fits in the loaf pan
Let dough rise in pan until it reaches the sides
Bake at 30 degrees for 35-40 mins and enjoy
I enjoyed my fresh made bread with butter, honey, and wine.
Do you still have your Mom or Grandma's starter?
I would love to hear about your bread making stories of your past.
This bread takes some prep but with a plan, you can enjoy bread most anytime.
Thanks to Jennifer for sharing her talents with me and others who have taken her class.
If you are in the Mooresville area and would like to learn how to bake bread with Jennifer, just
contact me and I will share her info with you.
See you later.

ingredients:
Bread Starter
- 1 Cup Warm Water
- Mix into the cup of warm water
- 3/4 cup of sugar and 3T potato flakes and stir
- Pour into a glass jar with a lid that allows air to escape and let "feed" all day or night sitting on the counter
- You will use part of it to make bread and return remaining starter to fridge after mixing the dough
Bread
- 6 cups of bread flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1T salt
- 1 1/2 cup mixture(starter) and 1 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup oil-vegetable or canola

instructions:
- Dump out onto floured surfaces and split into loaves and let it rise in pans until over the edge. This takes several hours.
- This is where you can get creative. I make mine into 2 loaves and 1 onto a pizza sheet.

Easy White Chicken Chili Recipe
February 3, 2019 • Cooking, Foodie Friday
I am not sure what your memory of school lunch was while growing up, but let me tell you it has changed over the years. For the better, I think. My day job is a lunch lady, as most of you know. I love serving the kids and it is a whirlwind of a day.
We try out new menu items often this was a big hit for us with students and staff. I had this paired down from the massive amounts that are served in the cafeteria to 4. Adjust for your family, as needed it's that easy. We call this recipe the dump and go method(We are weird). Because basically you dump in the pot and leave it alone.
White Chicken Chili
I used a can of Cannelli beans and Kidney Beans
You can use any kind of beans you like.
