Simple Tuesday-Beach BabeTexturizing Sea Salt Spray
April 28, 2015 • Lifestyle
Let me just say that if you don't know me by now,
I love the Beach!
I hope to someday own a home at the beach and have beach hair everyday.
But, until then I will visit the beach as often as possible.
I recently came across a product that gives you the beach hair without having to leave home.
Just give your hair a few sprays of this product then, run your fingers thru your hair and go.
I picked this up at CVS and only got the 2 oz bottle to try,
I have since went back and got the larger bottle.
Rock your beach hair this summer.
Meeting the President of the United States-Part 3 and final part!!
April 23, 2015 • Out & About
A deep voiced announced in a very serious deep tone-The President of the United States!!
The crowd went into clapping and cheering.
Within 5 feet of me was Barack Obama and I was in shock. I fought back tears as I saw him and not
because I was sad, but because I was so happy to be in this place and I really was still expecting some
secret service guy to come remove me and tell me this was all a mistake.
The President is a tall, thin, handsome man wearing a tailored blue suit and white shirt.
He waved to the crowd and took the podium for a few words.
As he spoke about joining BlogHer and SheKnows Media for this Town Hall meeting it was one of
those moments when you want to jump up and down screaming, hey I know them, I know them. I
am them, I am them!
But I smiled and kept my seat.
After speaking for a few moments the President took a
stool beside of Lisa Stone of SheKnows Media.
Lisa fielded questions from online and audience members to Mr.Obama.
He took thought in his answers and spoke to the heart of women and families.
He made jokes about raising kids, being married and just life in general.
He really warms you up to him in a short time.
This pic here was a now or never shot. I took it and I am glad I did.
I had my official picture made with him but, that is being mailed from The White House.
Can't wait to get that mail.
At this point in my day I had, waited for hours outside of secure areas in the rain, then moved to
secure areas, but still in the rain, then inside to go thru just in case some more security checkpoints.
I got to keep my phone and IPad but, the water bottle had to go to the trash. It was all good.
Below are just some of the media outlet links and links from BlogHer and SheKnows Media.
Check them out when you get a chance and let me know what you think.
A very big THANK YOU to BlogHer and SheKnows Media for this once in a lifetime opportunity!
On this day it was a great day to be blogger and a women!

Simple Tuesday-Bacon Chicken Mac & Cheese
April 21, 2015 • Cooking
This simple Tuesday meal is one of my fav's, so easy and good.
If your on any kind of diet just keep scrolling because, this recipe is not for you.
If your on any kind of diet just keep scrolling because, this recipe is not for you.
It is a modified version of the dish that Rock Bottom serves.
Bacon Chicken Mac & Cheese
Bacon Chicken Mac & Cheese
I use Rotelli pasta, its just my kids prefer. After I cook the noodles, I drain them and remove from heat, I then add heavy cream to my liking, I add a mixture of American Cheese, White Cheddar Cheese and Asiago Cheese.
Really, you can make your Mac & Cheese however your family eats it, and go from there.
I fry about a 1/2 bacon and drain(Make extra Bacon on the weekend and save for this meal)
Grill Chicken breast and dice(I grill a bunch of Chicken at a time so that I always have some on hand)Monitor the dates closely.
Mix the Mac & Cheese, bacon crumpled, and the diced Chicken all together in a shallow dish. Cover with more cheese mixture and Italian Bread crumbs place in the oven on broil, WATCH CAREFULLY, remove when cheese is melting.
Meeting the President-Part 2
April 17, 2015 • Out & About
From the perfectly placed books that are all about family, on the shelves behind
The Presidential podium, to the music(mostly light Pop and country-Only in America by Brooks & Dunn) that's being played, its all a well laid plan.
Media is positioned behind the crowd with large cameras. As a local girl, I have seen several media folks that I have followed over the years and didn't miss my opportunity to snap a pic with them.
I mean would I really be a responsible over picture taker blogger, in I didn't!
I'm a visual person and pictures explain my stories.
Dave Wagner for WCNC
Mark Becker for Channel 9
I feel like a kid in a candy store and really can't stop smiling, I am so honored.
The lights in this room are massive and many, I mean they are bright and I am loving how they are making my skin look.
So I spot a guy hanging around in the crowd over to the side. But what caught my attention is what he was wearing. He had on a Banshee Rigging Crew Tee.
Banshee, well parts of this show, were filmed in Mooresville and we saw these guys around town all the time using these massive lights to light the set of Banshee.
Corey was responsible for the large lights for the President as well. Thanks Corey for letting me talk your ear off. Glad to hear your a home town guy also.

FBI guys hang in the wings wearing dark suites and clear ear pieces.
They barely speak unless spoken too, must be part of the job.
Women, men, children, a Vet and the Women's Basketball Team from Johnson & Wales
are in attendance.
It's a small crowd of maybe 125 people of all walks of life. Pinch me.
Chatter is going on in the crowd and excitement feels the air as you hear phones dinging with the
news, the President has landed in Charlotte.
As I read the news on my phone, I get a lump in my throat thinking that very shortly, I will be seeing
in person, The President of the United States.
A voice comes over the speaker shortly after and announces that we will be getting started so, please
silence all cell phones and devices.
Everyone rushes to do this, cause really no one wants a phone going off in the middle of the
President speaking.
More FBI guys gather at a curtain that hangs the just behind the podium, you can tell something big
is about to happen.
Stayed tuned for I am saving the best for last!

Meeting the President of the United States-Part 1
April 16, 2015 • Out & About
I was honored and thrilled to find out that thru BlogHer, I would be allowed to attend the Town Hall
meeting in Charlotte. This is just a glimpse with lots more to come and some really cool details of
how things go when Mr. Obama is in Town.
Lots of people waited in the rain for the doors to open.
Lisa Stone of SheKnowsMedia speaking
The ticket that got me into the Town Hall Meeting. I only got the day before.
Look here Mr. President.
I did have my official picture taken by White House photographer, but it will be mailed.

Grilled Kielbasa with Onions
April 12, 2015 • Cooking
I love the warmer weather!
I enjoy being outside all day and soaking up as much fun as possible.
With the warmer weather comes grilling season, Yes!!
My favorite, simple and go to quick meal is Grilled Kielbasa.
The little hand of my daughter Ella as she slices the Kielbasa
Toss the Kielbasa, a chopped onion, a dash of olive oil and some seasonings into a foil wrapper and
close tightly, put it on the grill and in about 15 minutes the most delicious food will be waiting.
I add Burgers, Hot Dogs or just a simple Baked Potato to the grill for a yummy dinner.
Anything I can do that will keep me outside longer and not in the house behind a stove, I am up for!
Enjoy!
Floor Remodel at my Parents
April 9, 2015 • DIY, Family, Painting, retro
My parents live in a house that was built in 1907 in the Mill Hill area of Mooresville. It's old, but it
has been a great home for generations of children and grandchildren.
The house holds memories for me that no money can by.
But recently the floor started sagging in the right corner of the living room, I mean it was built in
1907, I'm sagging and I'm not even that old.
So it needed to repaired and so the process began.
I went on vacation and my parents did also, while the actual floor was ripped up and the boards under
the house were repaired, so I don't have pics of that.
But this is the new boards after some really,
really old ones were torn out.
Here is the new linoleum that my Mom picked out. It matches the other parts of her floors and I hope
doesn't show cat hair as much as the old floor.
When the new floor went down this caused a chain reaction of new moulding,
new paint and new furniture.
I got to work prepping and painting this room and it looks amazing.
My Mom picked out the color and it is a slate gray color.
it's done and my Mom & Dad are happy and the floor is level also.

10. I love quotes! I can read a bunch that I keep on hand and just have myself a good time.

Southern Firefly Candle Co.
April 3, 2015 • decorating
I have been seeing in my Instagram and Facebook feeds a lot about
Southern Firefly Candle Co. so I decided it was time to try for myself.
I went to the website and they have lots of fragrances to choose from and I picked the North Carolina
candle tin with Sea Salt & Oak scents.
This is a 6.2 oz tin with 20 hrs burn time
It cost $12 plus shipping
Love the packaging
See the two cotton wicks
I have been burning it at my desk for a while now and the smell is starting to fill the room
It is not over powering at all but, just enough to add something special to the air.
All the candles are made with soy wax, double cotton wicks and no dyes or additives.
The candle fits into the lid so it is easy to store and reuse time and time again.
I see myself ordering more of these candles in the future.
If you want on for yourself head over to Southern Firefly Candle.

Blockade Runner Hotel in North Myrtle Beach- Review
April 2, 2015 • retro, Travel, vacation
My family booked our spring break trip to the Blockade Runner Hotel in North Myrtle Beach.
I did the usual and went online and read some reviews and saw they were great,
but still I was skeptical. I can handle a bad place if I am all alone(which never happens) but not when
the kids are with me I like to have higher standards.
You know no roaches, nasty room and nice staff ( a girl has to have some standards)
For years now I have passed the Blockade Runner as I traveled the short distance between Cherry
Grove and the Ocean Drive sections of North Myrtle Beach and
I always thought what a sweet looking place.
The outside is painted the prettiest shade of blue with pink accents and old style block work.
It made my heart sing.
This is the front of the building pic at night and as you can see its and older style place but just as
comfortable as the newer high rises that dot the beach front.
Loved the old style block work that sheltered the open hallways to the rooms.
All rooms at The Blockade Runner are ocean front and with only 5 floors it's a great view from any of
floor that you chose.
The lobby had a nice beach feel about it with wicker furniture, nautical decor and music playing.
I really just thought about staying here it was so relaxing.
You can't really tell the color from this pic but our room door was a pink/coral color and
guess what?? It used a real key. No key card but a real key!!
This is sunrise shot right of our 3rd floor balcony.
The Blockade Runner has now been added to our list of places to stay.
It is not the most expensive but, certainly not the cheapest in town.
The rooms were nice and very clean and comfortable.
I didn't get a pic of our room cause as soon as the door opened we started piling our bags inside.
We had a 2 King efficiency with a full size fridge, stove/oven and sink with pots, pans and silverware.
2 tables for eating and a nice size desk
The decor was fresh and updated and in this decade.
I love vintage things but vintage hotel furniture, not so much.
A nice oceanfront balcony with chairs and tables
for just sitting and enjoy the view and the sound of waves crashing.
The staff was very nice and helpful when needed.
If you are looking for a 5 star hotel with room service and all the bells and whistles,
this is not the place for you.
If you are looking for comfort, great location to shopping and restaurants then this is for you.
I am including a link to the website here.
Happy Travels!!
