Sandy Beach Sunday
March 29, 2015 • Out & About
I love Sunday's!
It has always been a day for me to reflect on the past, present and the future and this
Sunday, I am waking up at the Beach and will
be enjoy these scenes and many more over the next week.
When I see this turntable house on the inlet waterway, this means vacation is on!
Hello Beautiful!!
A random Palm tree. I wish we could grow these in NC.
I love getting up early to see the sunrise over the ocean. It really is a reminder that God is great.
So enjoy your Sunday!
Do you have any traditions for Sunday's in your family?
When I am home I go to my parents and make dinner and
I love doing that and its always nice to be with my family.
But today, I will just relax and try to clear my head of some stuff that needs to be gone.
Fashion from a Non Fashionista
March 27, 2015 • Fashionable after 50
Let me just start by saying I am not a fashion icon, most days I dress like a child in sweat pants and hair in a pony tail. I am trying to get better about dressing myself like an adult and I have been having lots of fun buying new clothes. I am not loyal to one store at all, I am really all over the place when it comes to shopping. If I see something I like and it feels right and fits good, I take it home.
Here are a few items, that I have gotten recently.
Hope you got some idea of my new fashion sense, it really feels good to dress myself.

Here are a few items, that I have gotten recently.
This sheer coverup was picked up at no other than, Family Dollar store.
I know it may not last for ever, but it was really cute and cheap. I paired it with a black lace tank but
it can really go with lots of colors.
This blue polka dot shirt is from the discount rack at Forever 21 and I walked away paying $8
I am so in love with my latest purchase of these madden girl shoes.
I got these for shag dance lessons that I just started taking.
More about dance lessons coming soon.
Coral owl necklace I got at Hobby Lobby
This sheer coverup with a pink flowing tank is becoming one of my
favorite options for this sheer coverup.
I love Chevron and this sundress just screamed "Hey Dana, Buy me" so I did.
It fits wonderfully and feels so good one.
As you can see clothes are not a large part of my life, no I am not a nudist but just not into fashion,
I think I am seeing a change in myself.

March 23, 2015
I know that the warm days are upon us, but this soup is still good even on a warm day but really, really, great on a rainy day when your just stuck inside.
This simple Tuesday I'm thinking Chili. This recipe makes a bunch, so maybe invite friends or family over and share it with the ones you love or at least like.

St Patrick's Day Parade in Downtown Mooresville, NC
March 17, 2015 • Community
Happy St. Patrick's Day!! I went to the parade in Downtown Mooresville and this parade is only in it's second year but, it was filled with Irish Fun for the entire family.
Marching bands, floats, Acro Fitness kids, old cars and horses.
I think on St Patricks Day we all become a tad Irish and that's ok!
Hope you enjoy your day!!

Simple Tuesday: How to shade icing
March 10, 2015 • Cooking, girl time, Let's Eat, Simple Tuesday
So our journey of Simple Tuesday continues. See the shades of the flowers on the cup cake below?
Pretty yes but, how is that done?
I was told by Anita Stack, Pastry manager and Queen cake decorater(this should be her title cause
she's the bomb) of Tizzert's in Charlotte since 1995, just how to achieve this look.
When you fill your pastry bag with buttercream icing, you put one color on one side of the bag and
a contrasting color on the other side.
Anita warned against using bright colors for cakes because the color can really stain your mouth.
She also showed me how much she loves decorating tip #67 as she uses it all the time.
I also learned how to make a pastry bag out of parchment paper, which really saves having
to wash the bags.
Thanks again to Tiz(Tizzerts) & Anita for teaching a very well informed buttercream class and
sharing all your tips.

Southern Spring Show: Carolina Calling
March 7, 2015 • camping, girl time, outdoors
Carolina Calling was the theme for this years 55th annual Southern Spring Show held in Charlotte. I always enjoy the Spring Show because here in the South it is still chilly outside when it is underway. But inside it is nice and warm and you can stroll gardens galore and really soak up what it means to have Carolina Calling, your name.
This just makes me want to go live in a swamp somewhere. It is so cozy!
Loving this steel sign and wishing I had one in my yard.
Ella on the porch of country shed
Hope you enjoyed the photographic journey thru the Southern Spring Show. If you are in the Charlotte area around the last weekend in Feb stop by and check out the show for yourself. I promise after you do, you will love the Spring Show as much as I do.
Honey-cheese rolls
March 5, 2015 • Community, Cooking, Grocery shopping, Let's Eat
Recently a Publix store opened in my area. I went to check it out and see what all the "talk" was about. Well let me say the chatter was spot on and Publix over achieved in my book. During opening month they had lots of free samples and cooking demo's. The day I was in the store I tried lots of yummy products but, these Honey-Cheese Rolls stood out in my mind.
I popped a nice hot one in my mouth before I really knew what I was eating. As I glanced at the ingredients I was shocked but also kinda excited to see Mozzarella cheese and honey, what a strange combo, but also what a tasty treat.
Hope you enjoy these tasty rolls.
